Who is Crew of One?
Crew of One is based around Melbourne cinematographer and director Tom Chapman.
Having started in television production 12 years ago, Tom has seen film crews shrink with advances in modern equipment and workflows. At the same time, ideas have grown, as cameras get up close and personal in ways never before possible. It's an exciting time to be making videos.
Crew of One's ethos is to take a streamlined approach to the modern video project. No extraneous crew. No unnecessary gear. No catered lunches. It keeps us nimble, unimposing and allows us to cut out the middle-man. You know your business best. If you've got ideas on set - talk to the creators directly.
Tom is in the unique position of holding a degree in creative advertising, whilst also being a full member of the Australian Cinematographers Society. He loves the thrill (what a geek!) of seeing a project germinate from an idea, to a beautiful on-screen reality, and has plenty of industry contacts to collaborate with as required.
